Burlington Real Estate

The community of Burlington is designated as the “Hub City” of Skagit County because of its central location. Midway between Seattle and the Canadian border, Burlington offers those who live here a delightful mix of rural living and modernization.

Although agriculture and logging have long been industry staples in Burlington, business parks, retail, and food services now contribute significantly to the community's income. The largest Skagit County shopping mall is in Burlington, along with a factory outlet center, and many smaller in-town shops. A variety of restaurants serve up everything from fast food to fine dining.

The Skagit Valley Casino Resort delivers Las Vegas-style entertainment to Burlington. Slot machines, table games, entertainment, and a hotel with conference center are just some of the features of The Skagit, as it is commonly referred to. Another popular Burlington attraction is the Skagit Speedway, a 10,000-seat, clay oval race track that draws fans from far and wide.

The Burlington real estate market is very active, and variety is one of the reasons why. You can buy turn of the century Victorians, farms on acreage, homes in sub-divisions (new and old), manufactured homes, condominiums, or property to build your dream house. Burlington real estate buyers can readily find three-bedroom, two-bath homes in the low to mid $200,000's. The average single family home or condo sold for $271,930 in February 2006.

Outlying areas such as Alger, Allen, Bay View, Bow, Edison, and Samish Island are considered part of the Burlington community. These towns often list unique Burlington real estate opportunities such as waterfront homes and horse ranches.

The area surrounding Burlington offers golf, plenty of parks, hiking trails, various outdoor activities, and an artists' colony. With a well-respected school district and access to excellent hospital and medical facilities, this city's population of nearly 8,000 will continue to grow.
