Suquamish Real Estate

Located along Agate Pass on Madison Bay, those who live in the town of Suquamish enjoy some of the most spectacular views on the Kitsap Peninsula. Part of the Port Madison Indian Reservation, the Suquamish Tribe makes its home here.

The community's historical roots run deep, dating back to the mid 1800's, when Suquamish's famed Chief Sealth – who is more commonly known as Chief Seattle – signed the Treaty of Point Elliott, establishing the Reservation and speaking in support of the cultural beliefs of the indigenous tribe. Chief Seattle's gravesite, dated 1866, is a frequented historic landmark. When standing over the great Chief's headstone and gazing across the Puget Sound, one can sense the complicated simplicity of native days gone by.

During the third week in August, Suquamish celebrates the life and death of this great leader during Chief Seattle Days. Residents and visitors enjoy traditional native dances and competitions; salmon dinners; canoe races; Indians arts and crafts vendors; and a gravesite ceremony in honor of Chief Seattle.

Buyers of Suquamish real estate can pick up a quiet and secluded home for around $250,000. If you want a view, prices rise to the $450,000 range. And for coveted waterfront property on Agate Pass, buyers can expect to pay from $800,000 to over $1M. In February 2006, the average sales price of a single family home or condo was $224,066.

Getting around Suquamish and its surrounding communities is easy. Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island are less than six miles away. To get to Silverdale's shopping hub, you need to drive less than 10 miles. Bridges and ferries connect Suquamish real estate owners to the mainland, making it convenient to travel to Seattle or Tacoma if desired.
