Wedgwood Real Estate

The Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle is a beautiful community located about two miles northeast of the University of Washington and about six miles northeast of downtown. Wedgwood is primarily a residential area, although there is a small business district that serves the residents' basic needs.

An established neighborhood of just under 3,500 homes, Wedgwood real estate owners share a tight bond. Cared for home fronts are complemented by well-kept yards and gardens. Neighbors greet each other at the local post office and in the checkout line at the grocery store. And backyard barbeques often include the family next door.

Along with the View Ridge, Bryant, and Seward Park neighborhoods in Seattle, Wedgwood is considered a center point for the Jewish community and the synagogue here is well-attended. Many other religious organizations also have a presence in Wedgwood.

Wedgwood is very pedestrian-friendly. The tree-lined streets offer beauty and functionality. Solid sidewalks connect Wedgwood residents to most of the local businesses, from area banks and medical offices to neighborhood restaurants and bars.

Wedgwood is home to one of Seattle's largest and busiest public libraries and the Seattle branch of the Audobon Society. A large community garden called the P-Patch is located on the area's west edge. And University Prep, a respected private school for grades six through 12, draws students to Wedgwood from throughout the greater Seattle area.

Wedgwood real estate mainly consists of older homes of various styles. It's not uncommon to see a small home surrounded by a white picket fence or property lines marked by manicured hedges. Like many other well-maintained Seattle neighborhoods, buying Wedgwood real estate will cost you well over $300,000. However, a home here will be an investment in more than just property; it will be an investment in quality of life. In February 2006, the average sales price for a single family home or condo was $453,647.
